NSS


Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College initiated NSS unit in the year 1975 to create awareness about voluntary national services among the student fraternity. Since inception NSS unit has been constantly contributing to societal welfare.

Objectives of the NSS unit:

  •     To enable students to understand the needs of the community
  •     To understand themselves in relation to their community
  •     To develop among students a sense of social and civic responsibility
  •     To develop competence required for team work and sharing responsibilities
  •     To gain skills in mobilizing community participation
  •     To acquire leadership qualities and develop democratic attitude
  •     To develop capacity to meet emergencies and national disasters
  •     To promote the spirit of national integration

The various activities conducted by the NSS unit are Health Awareness Campaign, 7 days Special camp on environment awareness, Education Campaign, Swach Bharath Abhiyan, Self Defence Workshop and conducting remedial classes for government school children. Tabassum of  B.A and Purnima Rawat of B.Com were selected to represent the Karnataka NSS team in the Cultural Exchange Programme held at Guwahati, Assam between 19th  Jan 2015- 3rd Feb 2015.

Tara and Chandrakala.M of B.A and Thushara and Sharmila of  BBM were selected to participate in the Special Leadership Camp organized by Bangalore University from 25th to 31st March 2015. 20 NSS volunteers participated and secured the 1st place for overall participation in a workshop on Human Trafficking organized by St. Josephs College Bangalore on 21st and 22nd Feb 2015.
