National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit
The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of our college aims to develop the personality of students through community service and social involvement. Our volunteers actively participate in various programs that promote social awareness, leadership, and teamwork.
The NSS unit organizes a wide range of activities such as cleanliness drives, tree plantation, blood donation camps, health awareness programs, environmental conservation, and rural development initiatives. Through these activities, students cultivate values of responsibility, discipline, and compassion towards society.
The unit also conducts special camps in villages, focusing on creating awareness about health, hygiene, education, and sustainable living. NSS volunteers play an important role in building a sense of national integration and community service among youth.
Motto: "Not Me But You" — reflecting the spirit of selfless service and unity.
Purpose
To involve students in meaningful community service that fosters empathy, discipline, and social awareness while bridging the gap between the educated and the underprivileged sections of society.

NSS and Gandhian Study Centre Orientation – 21/09/2024
The Gandhian Study Centre Orientation Program was organized to introduce students to the life, philosophy, and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The program emphasized values such as truth, non-violence, self-discipline, and social responsibility in everyday life.
NSS State-Level Camp – Tumkuru Hirmanth, Tapovana | 16/10/2024 to 22/10/2024
Organised by: SJR Women's College · The State Level Special Camp was conducted for seven days focusing on holistic development and community service. Activities included cleanliness drives, health awareness programs, tree plantation, village surveys, personality development sessions, cultural programs, and social awareness campaigns.
Independence Day Celebration at mLAC – 15/08/2025
Independence Day was celebrated to honor the sacrifices of freedom fighters and to commemorate India's independence. The program included flag hoisting, patriotic speeches, and cultural activities highlighting national unity and pride.
Yuva Sammelana @ Town Hall – 20/08/2025
Students actively volunteered at the Yuva Sammelana event held at the Town Hall, contributing their time and efforts to ensure the smooth conduct of the program. They assisted in event coordination, crowd management, and participant guidance, demonstrating discipline and teamwork.

A seminar on "Scientific Management of E-Waste" was organized at the Raman Research Institute, which was attended by students to gain awareness about responsible electronic waste disposal and sustainability.

An Eco-Fold Paper Bag Making Event was organized to promote environmental awareness and reduce the use of plastic. Students actively participated by making paper bags using eco-friendly materials.

A Walkathon to Cubbon Park was organized to promote awareness about health, fitness, and environmental conservation. Students participated enthusiastically, spreading messages on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and a clean, green environment.
NSS Day Celebration – 24/09/2025
NSS Day was celebrated at the college to commemorate the establishment of the National Service Scheme and to highlight its motto, "Not Me, But You." The program included speeches, pledge-taking, and activities that emphasized social responsibility and community service.
Gandhi Bhavan Workshop Event – 26/09/2025
Gandhi Bhavan conducted an interactive workshop session. The talk focused on the life, vision, and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, including truth, non-violence, simplicity, and social service.
Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration at mLAC – 02/10/2025

World AIDS Day was celebrated to create awareness about HIV/AIDS, its prevention, and the importance of compassion for affected individuals. The program included awareness talks, pledge-taking, and activities emphasizing safe practices and reducing stigma.
Trekking by Vivekananda Kendra – 07/12/2025
A trekking program was organized by Vivekananda Kendra, where students participated to promote physical fitness, mental strength, and team spirit. The trek provided an opportunity to connect with nature and experience adventure while learning discipline and endurance.
