First year MSc. Zoology students, had the privilege to undertake an educational  visit to the Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (GKVK). This visit provided them with a unique opportunity to gain practical insights into apiculture, entomology sericulture, and vermicomposting.

Journey commenced with a visit to the Apiculture Department, where they were introduced to the fascinating world of beekeeping and honey production. The department's experts provided comprehensive explanations regarding beekeeping practices, hive management, and honey extraction techniques.

In Entamology department wide variety of pinned insects was observed among them many were pinned by UG students of that university which was provoking our students to make pinning of insects as one of their hobby. They were fascinated by seeing different types of  insect nests their building pattern material used and the architecture.

At the Vermiculture unit the emphasis on sustainable waste management practices underscored the importance of vermiculture in environmental conservation. By witnessing the practical applications of these techniques, from waste reduction to soil enrichment, we gained a newfound appreciation for the role of vermiculture in promoting ecological balance and agricultural sustainability.

In sericulture department they ventured into a vast museum, brimming with a diverse array of exhibits showcasing every stage of silk production. The museum's collection featured an impressive variety of larvae, moth eggs, and cocoons, meticulously displayed to highlight their unique characteristics and vibrant colors.and were marveled at the exquisite patterns and textures of the silk fabrics, gaining a deeper appreciation for the artistry and innovation inherent in silk weaving.

Hands-on learning in apiculture, sericulture, and vermiculture. Exploration of honey production, silk manufacturing, and production of organic manure.

Exposing students to diverse industrial practices. Fostering appreciation for sustainability and industry intricacies. Enriching academic knowledge about the subject.
