Dr. T.V. Ramachandra, renowned environmental scientist from Indian Institute of Science and one among top 2% scientists across the world organized LAKE 2022 - 13th Biennial International Lake Conference from 28 -30 December 2022 at IISc Campus. Lake 2022 forum was created to deliberate on nature based solutions through protection, restoration and sustainable managing ecosystems. Participants included all stakeholders (researchers, school students and teachers, college and university students, NGOs, community representatives, Govt. officials and media)
Lake 2022 focused not only on updating the current knowledge of the scientific community but also to bring awareness among students, teachers, practitioners and public. This conference provided a platform for interaction among researchers, policymakers, academics and NGOs and address the issues related to wetlands and biodiversity in an era of climate change. This conference developed a stronger network among experts and institutions to develop efficient strategies for conserving and managing fragile ecosystems. As a part of the conference many theme-based lead lectures by eminent scholars, paper and poster presentations by researchers, school and college students were convened.
It is a proud moment to mention that mLAC partnered with Indian Institute of Science in this conference.
In this international conference, students from department of zoology- Ms. Ananya S.S. and Ms. Monisha R. secured second prize in paper presentation for the project titled “Biowaste processing by black soldier fly (BSF)”.
This project was guided by zoology faculty members Prof. Aruna H.K. and Ms. Hema S.
Prof. Aruna H.K. was invited as guest of honour for the valedictory function of Lake 2022.
