- Dr. H. Paramesh
Dr. H. Paramesh is a leading pediatric Pulmonologist, Environmentalist and Distinguishes Visiting Professor at the Divecha Center for Climate Change Indian Institute of Science. He received many Local, National and International Awards for his work including life time achievement awards. Karnataka State Environmental Award 2000, Kempegowda Award Bangalore 2011. He received the life time achievement award for his exemplary Service with Environmental Health in SociaPediatrics from Academic of Pediatrics IAP Nagpur-2018. He received the life time achievement award from the Indian Academy of Pediatrics in April 2022.
Brief summary of the activity:
‘Paridhaaranam’ in Sanskrit translate to ecosystem restoration. It was initiated by the department of Zoology from the year 2021 as an annual program to create awareness among students and public about the importance of our environment. This year we had the event pouring over 2 days. We had talk by an eminent personality Dr. H. Paramesh followed by painting event for all UG streams.
To keep the spirit of celebrating World Environment Day-2022, Dept. of Zoology chose the theme “A Healthy Environment for a Healthy Life”. The theme of the event was chosen which is thought provoking and designed to elicit interest and enthusiasm from the participants and ensure they are the ambassadors to carry forward the theme of this year World Environment Day and for next generations by applying - A Healthy Environment for a Healthy Life.

Day 1: June 5, 2022
Webinar began with an introduction by Ms. Devika. Invocation song was sung by Ms. Aishwarya Gangoli, final year student. The gathering was welcomed by Ms. Smitha. Ms. Archana mam gave an insight about our institution with regard to achievements, UG and PG programmes offered and facilities available. Ms. Hema explained the audience about the event Paridhaaranam. Introduction of speaker was done by Ms. Sowmitri, IISc followed by speaker talk. The Presidential address was delivered by the Principal, Dr.Shashikala . She congratulated and wished the organizers for the successful conductance of the program. Ms. Sirisha proposed vote of thanks. The Organising Secretary was Prof. Aruna H K, HOD of the department. Program coordinator for the event was Anusha V Udupa.
Resource person Dr. H. Paramesh made the session very interactive by eliciting the answers from the participants. He gave participants lot of take-home messages.
