The volunteer's day program was conducted on 28th January 2024 by the WWF ORGANIZATION held on kokkarabeluru bird sanctuary. MSc Zoology student S. Shreelakshmi, Shrinidhi participated in volunteers day program.
The person in charge for the WWF ORGANISATION was Surabhi Deshpande and there were many other volunteers who joined from different colleges and volunteers of WWF ORGANISATION.
The volunteers day program was conducted for nest counting of the migratory birds that would come to one specific location during certain seasons for egg laying and parental care would be given till they grow young. They build nests in certain trees such as tamarind trees and others in that locality.
They had many fun activities during travel as well as villagers helped them during the nest count near their home. There was many birds that trees were not seen at all.
Villagers said that those birds are like their family and they help them in many ways such as agricultural purposes such as increase in soil manure by their faecal matter.
