Electoral Literacy Club

Empowering the next generation of voters. The Electoral Literacy Club nurtures responsible citizenship and active participation in the world's largest democracy.

Strengthening the Foundations of Democracy

At Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women (mLAC), we believe that a robust democracy relies entirely on the informed, ethical, and active participation of its youth. The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) is a dynamic, student-oriented initiative designed to educate young citizens about their constitutional rights, electoral duties, and the profound power of their vote.

Our vision is to build a generation of aware, empowered citizens who actively participate in the democratic process. Through interactive discussions, massive awareness drives, and engaging campus activities, the ELC creates a culture of informed decision-making. We strive to transform our students into confident future voters who deeply respect constitutional values and are committed to free, fair, and ethical elections.

Our Mission and Objectives

The Electoral Literacy Club operates with a clear mandate to promote civic responsibility across the campus and the wider community:

  • 🇮🇳 Electoral Education: Spreading comprehensive awareness about the electoral system of India, including practical education on voter registration, polling procedures, and EVM/VVPAT usage.
  • ⚖️ Ethical Voting: Encouraging maximum participation of eligible voters while fiercely promoting ethical voting behavior, equality, and political integrity.
  • 🤝 Civic Responsibility: Developing a profound sense of civic duty among students, ensuring they understand the weight and importance of their democratic rights.

Club Activities and Outreach

To achieve our objectives, the ELC organizes highly engaging, year-round activities that bridge the gap between students and the democratic process.

  • 📢 Public Awareness Campaigns: We take our mission to the streets through high-visibility events like the Voting Awareness Walkathon, the Voting Awareness Rally, and impactful Street Plays. We also conduct targeted Door Step Voting Awareness and host the flagship 'Every Vote Matters' Programme.
  • 🎓 Campus Competitions & Engagement: We make civic education interactive by hosting inter-class debates, quizzes, essay writing, poster making, and modern Reels Making Competitions centered around electoral themes.
  • 🗳️ Electoral Facilitation: The club actively sets up on-campus Voter Registration Drives to enroll new voters, proudly inaugurates the Pink Booth for female voters, and leads the campus in celebrating National Voters' Day.
