Women Development Center

The official portal for the mLAC Women Development Cell, dedicated to promoting gender sensitization, health awareness, and professional leadership.

Fostering Confidence and Leadership

Established in 2005, the Women Development Centre (WDC) at Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women (mLAC) is a highly proactive cell dedicated to the absolute empowerment of our students. We provide a robust, supportive platform for young women to embark on a journey of self-discovery, building the deep self-confidence necessary for both personal and professional excellence.

The WDC believes that true empowerment happens through action. Rather than just attending events, our students are encouraged to actively participate in the planning and execution of our programs. By taking the lead on awareness drives and skill-building workshops, our students practically hone their organizational capabilities, teamwork, and leadership skills, transforming them from eager learners into highly capable professionals.

A Multi-Dimensional Approach to Empowerment

The WDC organizes targeted, high-impact programs across four primary focus areas:

  • 🛠️ Skill Development & Entrepreneurship: We equip students with practical, income-generating skills through hands-on workshops in fabric painting, jewelry making, baking, and candle making. We also promote sustainable environmental practices through courses in mushroom cultivation, composting, and "best out of waste" paper recycling.
  • 🩺 Health, Hygiene & Mental Wellness: In collaboration with medical experts, psychiatrists, and counselors, we conduct comprehensive awareness programs. These include cancer awareness walkathons, free dental camps, gynecological health talks, and targeted Yoga sessions designed for general health and menstrual cramp management.
  • 🛡️ Safety, Rights & Self-Defense: A core pillar of our mission is physical and legal safety. We host practical self-defense demonstrations by martial arts experts for both students and staff. Additionally, we conduct vital legal awareness lectures on Consumer Rights, Women’s Rights, and the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH).
  • 🎤 Motivational Leadership: We regularly host interactive sessions with inspiring women achievers from diverse fields. These talks provide the necessary impetus for our students to identify bold opportunities, integrate them with hard work, and confidently reach their life goals.
