National Service Scheme

Not Me, But You. Join the mLAC NSS unit and dedicate your time to rural development, social empowerment, and impactful community service

"Not Me, But You"

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a central sector scheme of the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. At mLAC, the NSS unit is one of our most active and prestigious student bodies. The core objective of the NSS is to understand the community in which we work, identify its needs, and develop a deep sense of social and civic responsibility.

By exposing our young women to the realities of rural and underprivileged life, the NSS bridges the gap between the privileged campus environment and the grassroots of society. Our volunteers dedicate hundreds of hours to active community service, learning vital skills in mobilization, problem-solving, and democratic leadership along the way.

Our Core Objectives

The NSS unit operates with a clear, service-oriented mandate to empower both the student and the community:

  • Civic Responsibility: To develop a profound sense of social and civic duty among students by identifying and actively addressing the needs of the community.
  • Leadership & Teamwork: To promote democratic leadership, strong teamwork, and operational discipline through hands-on participation in service projects.
  • National Integration: To encourage a lifelong spirit of volunteerism and national unity among the youth.
  • Holistic Awareness: To create widespread public awareness regarding critical issues in health, hygiene, environmental sustainability, and social equity.

📅 Regular Campus Activities

Continuous, year-round initiatives focused on campus welfare, student health, and civic awareness:

  • Health & Wellness: Blood donation camps, Yoga and fitness programs, and Anti-drug/Anti-tobacco campaigns.
  • Environment: Campus cleanliness drives and extensive tree plantation.
  • Civic Education: Voter awareness drives, traffic awareness campaigns, and the observation of national and international days.
  • Empowerment: Basic literacy programs and health/hygiene awareness.

🌍 Community Outreach Activities

Taking our mission beyond the campus walls to serve the marginalized and protect our local environment:

  • Community Health: Village cleanliness drives, health check-up camps, and HIV/AIDS awareness programs.
  • Social Support: Dedicated visits to old age homes and orphanages, alongside active school adoption programs.
  • Sustainable Action: Swachh Bharat Abhiyan activities, water conservation drives, and environmental awareness rallies.
  • Public Safety: Community road safety awareness campaigns.

🏕️ Special Camp Activities

Intensive, multi-day immersive camps where volunteers live in adopted villages to execute targeted development projects:

  • Rural Infrastructure: Conducting comprehensive village surveys and constructing essential soak pits.
  • Empowerment & Education: Women empowerment programs, digital literacy training, and career guidance programs for rural youth.
  • Capacity Building: Skill development workshops, disaster management training, and personality development sessions.
  • Health & Unity: Dedicated sanitation and hygiene programs, culminating in cultural and unity celebrations.
