State-of-the-Art Infrastructure
At Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women (mLAC), we believe that world-class research requires world-class infrastructure. Empowered by our Autonomous status, we have heavily invested in building dynamic, multidisciplinary laboratories that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and cutting-edge industrial application.
Our advanced research ecosystem is proudly supported by massive grants and recognitions from India’s premier funding bodies, including the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Department of Science & Technology (DST), the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST).
By housing these advanced facilities under one roof, we provide our faculty, Ph.D. scholars, and graduate students with the exact tools they need to pioneer new discoveries, secure high-impact publications, and file successful patents.
🔬 DST-FIST Facility
Supported by the prestigious Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure (FIST) from the Department of Science & Technology, this highly advanced, centralized facility is equipped with sophisticated analytical instruments designed to support cutting-edge multidisciplinary research across the pure and applied sciences.
🧬 DBT-Bioinformatics Facility (BIF)
Sanctioned by the Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India), our dedicated Bioinformatics hub provides high-performance computing, advanced software tools, and vital database access to researchers conducting complex computational biology and structural bioinformatics studies.
🎓 BiSEP (Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Programme)
Formerly known as the BT Finishing School, this specialized government-backed facility is meticulously designed to bridge the academia-industry gap. It features dedicated, industry-grade laboratories that train post-graduate students in highly specialized, job-ready biotech skills.
🐾 Institutional Animal House Facility
To support in-vivo pharmacological and biological research, our campus houses a highly regulated Animal House Facility. The facility operates in strict, uncompromising compliance with the ethical guidelines set forth by the CPCSEA, overseen directly by our Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC).
Recognized Ph.D. Research Centres
Beyond our physical laboratories, mLAC is immensely proud to host highly active, university-recognized hubs of advanced academic inquiry:
- Biotechnology Research Centre: An officially recognized Bangalore University research centre pushing the boundaries of life sciences through dedicated Ph.D. programs and extensive faculty-led projects.
- Tejaswi Kannada Research Centre: A premier, recognized hub for profound literary, cultural, and linguistic Ph.D. research in the Kannada language.
Innovation Ecosystem & IP Cell
Our infrastructure is not just about conducting research; it is about protecting and scaling it.
- mLAC-KSCST IP Cell: Operating in collaboration with the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology, our dedicated Intellectual Property Cell guides scholars and faculty through the complex process of patent filing, copyright protection, and technology transfer.
- mROOTS Seed Funding: To cultivate an entrepreneurial and scientific mindset from day one, our internal innovation ecosystem provides vital seed funding and mentorship for highly promising student research projects.
